Banker to the Poor
by Muhammad Yunus
Reviewed by Anne Guerrant
The 2006 Nobel Peace prize winner tells us the fascinating story of how he began the Grameen Bank in Bangladesh. He loaned 42 desperately poor people a total of $27 from his own pocket. They paid all the money back and tripled their incomes! Yunus shares stories of these people that will make you want to stand up and cheer for them. His micro credit lending solution for world poverty is simple: Loan poor people small amounts of money and they will help themselves by starting a small business. For example, a woman could borrow the money to buy a cell phone and some air time. She can become the village phone lady and resell her minutes at a profit. Today, there are over 3,000 micro credit lending programs around the world, and 84% of the borrowers are women.
Feed Your Body, Energize Your Life!
by Dr. Jane Hendricks
Reviewed by Janet Palmer
I read this entire book in one sitting – I simply couldn’t put it down. After reading this book, you will understand why diseases occur and how, through daily application of healthy eating, you can be liberated from the ailments of disease. You will be given the tools to empower your body, so as not to be victimized by the external causes of disease, like toxins and low-nutrient foods. I recommended this book to all of my clients, because the health principles I teach in my Polarity Diet classes are now vividly compiled in one book. Every sentence is packed with powerful information. I personally thank Dr. Hendricks for this awesome work.
Toxic People
by Marsha Petrie Sue
Review By: Debbie Cole
Toxic People … there is at least one in every office. They come with a title. They are the Steamroller, the Backstabber, the Know-It-All, Needy Wheenies, Zipper Lips or the Whine and Cheesers. Marsha Petrie Sue, local Valley author, shares her thoughts and advice on how to deal with these toxic individuals. My favorite was to Take Responsibility and Stop Making Excuses. You have the power to change the way you react. You have the power to change your attitude when you deal with a toxic person. So, as Marsha advises, “Take Responsibility.”
